Dilip Kumar was a popular Indian actor, movie producer, and philanthropist, known mainly for his characters in Hindi movies in the Bollywood movie industry. He was born on Dec 11, 1922 in Peshawar, British India. Some Eight years after his birth, in 1930, his whole family moved to Deolali, Nashik, Maharashtra. Dilip Kumar\u2019s real name was Mohammad Yusuf Khan. He did his studies at Barnes School in Deolali, Nashik district. He grew up with his childhood friend and great Bollywood actor Raj Kapoor. In 1940, when Dilip Kumar was just Eighteen years old, he left village for Pune due to a contention with his father.<\/p>

After two unsuccessful films, Jugnu (1947), his fourth film starring Noor Jehan, broke his first major box office record. His next hit was the 1948 movie, Shahid and Mela. Both Jugnu and Shaheed are the most successful Indian films of the year they were released.<\/p> In 1949, he got the lead role in Mehboob Khan\u2019s Andaz starring Raj Kapoor and Nargis. At the time of its release, Andaz was the highest-grossing Indian film of all time until it broke Kapoor\u2019s Barsaat record that same year. Shabnam hit another box office hit in 1949. 1975 film Sholay.<\/p> <\/p> <\/p> Over a decade in production, the film was originally shot in black and white, with only two songs and the climax shot in colour.<\/p> It was re-released in 2004, 44 years after its debut, in full colour and re-released footage at another successful venue.
