Mayank Agarwal is an Indian cricketer who plays as a right-handed top-order batter. He plays for Karnataka cricket team in domestic cricket. Mayank was born on 16 February 1991, in Bangalore, Karnataka. He plays for the Hyderabad franchise in the Indian Premier League. At that time, of the third test a young Australian boy Archie Schiller is the co-captain of Team Australia. He is 7years old and suffering from a heart problem. Moreover, his dream is to play with the team as the captain.<\/p>
On February 16, 1991, Mayank was born in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. His mother Suchitra Singh is a stay-at-home mom, while his father Anurag Agarwal is the CEO of Natural Remedies, a US$35 million healthcare company. After graduating from Bishop Cotton Boys’ School with honors in both high school and intermediate exams, Agarwal enrolled at Jain University in Bengaluru. While attending college, he was also friends with Karun Nair and KL Rahul, two of the standout players for the Indian team. He has enjoyed playing cricket since he was young. He joined the Cricket Academy throughout his time in school and college, where he received instruction in the fundamentals of the game from numerous domestic coaches.<\/p>

In 2013, Mayank started his first-class career against Jharkhand but he could not perform in the tournament to the best of his ability. After this, in 2014-15, he had to face some fitness issues and mental issues. It was a bad time for him that he pulled out after working hard on his own fitness.<\/p>
In January 2018, he was bought by the Kings XI Punjab in the 2018 IPL auction. In February 2018, he was the leading run-scorer in the 2017-18 Vijay Hazare Trophy, with 723 runs in eight matches. In 2019, he scored a maiden century against South Africa. He made his ODI debut in 2020 against New Zealand.<\/p>
Mayank became the 13th captain of the Punjab Kings on 2 May 2021, when he captained the team against Delhi Capital in the captained the team against Delhi Capital in the absence of the regular captain KL Rahul, who had undergone appendicitis surgery.<\/p>

Mayank started his career as a limited-overs batsman. Following his performance in the U-19 World Cup, he was selected for the India A side. Although being considered as a limited overs batsman, Mayank made his Ranji debut in the 2013\/14 season. Agarwal showed his class in the 2017\/18 season, when he scored more than 1160 runs in just 9 matches at an average of 105.45 for Karnataka! He was the highest run-getter in that season. Agarwal proved what he was made of and scored an unimaginable inning of 304* against Maharashtra at Pune and won the match quite comfortably for Karnataka.<\/p>
2017\/18 and 2018\/19 Vijay Hazare Trophy witnessed Mayank as the highest run-scorer with 723 and 251 runs to his name respectively. In 2017\/18 season, he scored 2,141 first-class runs across all formats which is the most number of runs by a batsman in an Indian domestic season. With these performances, Mayank proved that he was not just a white-ball cricketer, but also had the potential to represent the Indian team in test cricket. In June 2018, BCCI awarded Agarwal with the Madhavrao Scindia Award for being the highest run-scorer in Ranji Trophy 2017\/18. Later in November 2018, Agarwal was named as \u201cOne of the 8 players to watch out for\u201d ahead of the 2018\/19 Ranji Trophy.<\/p>

After his phenomenal 2017\/18 domestic season, Mayank Agarwal was rightly picked up in the Indian Test Squad for West Indies\u2019 tour of India in September 2018. However,\u00a0Prithvi Shaw\u00a0was picked over him and he didn\u2019t get a chance to play. A couple of months later, Shaw\u2019s injury in a warm-up game ensured Mayank\u2019s opportunity in the squad as his replacement. Agarwal got an opportunity to make his\u00a0debut\u00a0in the very famous \u2018boxing day test match at Melbourne Cricket Ground on 26th<\/sup>\u00a0December 2018.<\/p>
He didn\u2019t disappoint his skipper and the selectors as he played a sensational knock of 76 off 161 balls in his very first international innings. He went on to break the record of the highest individual score by an Indian batsman in Australia on debut with this innings. Agarwal scored the highest runs for India in the second innings when he added 42 runs on the board, ensuring that Australia get a huge target to chase. India won the game and sealed the series 2-1.<\/p>
With his flamboyant knock of 77 in the fourth and the final test of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2018-19, Mayank gave India a positive start which assisted them in registering a mammoth total of 622, thanks to\u00a0Cheteshwar Pujara\u2019s 193 (373). Although the match ended in a draw due to rain, it didn\u2019t matter because India went on to win the match and get their first ever test series victory in Australia. Mayank Agarwal scored 195 runs in his three innings at an impressive average of 65.0. World Cup 2019 Selection<\/strong><\/h3>
India announced its 15-man squad for ICC World Cup 2019 in April with\u00a0Ambati Rayudu, Navdeep Saini,\u00a0Axar Patel, Rishabh Pant, and\u00a0Ishant Sharma\u00a0as their standby players.\u00a0Shikhar Dhawan\u00a0was ruled out of the tournament after getting a hairline fracture. Rishabh Pant was the one who replaced him in the remaining of the World Cup. Unfortunately, Vijay Shankar was also ruled out of the tournament following a toe\u00a0injury. The board of selectors had an option of picking up Ambati Rayudu in place of Shankar as a top-order batsman. However, they decided to give the opportunity to Mayank. Mayank was chosen over Rayudu considering his recent form in the domestic season and his brilliant performance against Australia in his maiden test series. However, he didn\u2019t get an opportunity to play as India already had a well-balanced experienced squad for the tournament.<\/p>
