Rajiv Gandhi was an Indian politician and government official who was born in Bombay, India, on August 20, 1944, and passed away in Sriperumbudur, near Madras, India, on May 21, 1991. He joined the Indian National Congress in 1981 and became its leader. Following his mother Indira Gandhi’s assassination in 1984, Gandhi led the Congress (I) Party and served as prime minister of India from 1984 to 1989. 1991 saw the murder of the man himself.<\/p>
