The Government of India’s Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Youth Affairs, and Sports is Mr. Anurag Singh Thakur<\/a><\/strong>. He represents Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, in the Lok Sabha\/Lower House of the Indian Parliament, having been elected four times. He has held positions in Parliament as a member of the Public Accounts Committee and as chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on IT. On October 24, 1974, Thakur was born in Hamirpur. He is Prem Kumar Dhumal and Sheela Devi’s eldest son. At Jalandhar, Punjab’s Doaba College, he pursued his B.A.<\/p>

Anurag Singh Thakur<\/strong> Cricket career<\/strong><\/h2>

As president of the HPCA, Anurag Thakur participated in a Ranji Trophy match against Jammu & Kashmir in November 2000. In the 2000\u201301 season, he led the Himachal Pradesh squad as captain in their victory over Jammu & Kashmir and participated in one first-class cricket match. Jammu & Kashmir triumphed by four wickets.<\/p>

In order to meet the BCCI requirement\u2014which states that state administrators must have at least one first-class match experience\u2014he chose himself for the match. This allowed him to advance to the state level as a selector. Following the game, he announced his appointment as the HPCA Ranji trophy cricket team’s chairman of selectors.<\/p>

He was embroiled in a legal battle concerning the rights to the International Cricket Stadium in Dharamshala between the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association and the Himachal Pradesh State Government.<\/p>
