Billie Eilish (born December 18, 2001, Los Angeles, California, U.S.) American singer-songwriter who first gained recognition in 2015 for the song “Ocean Eyes” and became, in 2020, the youngest person ever to win a Grammy for album of the year. Billie Eilish parents were inspired by Hanson, a ’90s pop band formed by a group of homeschooled brothers from Tulsa, Oklahoma, to teach their children at home and encourage them to explore passions outside of the traditional education system. As a child, Eilish experimented with horseback riding, dance, and singing as a member of the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus. In 2015 Eilish’s elder brother, Finneas Baird O’Connell, who performs under the moniker FINNEAS, enlisted her to sing “Ocean Eyes,” a song he had written and produced for his band at the time and later put online. The song quickly gained success, and Eilish signed with the boutique label Darkroom in the summer of 2016.

Darkroom released Billie Eilish Don’t Smile at Me in August 2017, an eight-song EP written by Eilish and FINNEAS. The EP was reissued with a bonus track in December 2017; two more bonus tracks were added in later reissues. Following its release, Don’t Smile at Me peaked at 14 on the Billboard 200 chart. Hip-hop musicians like Tyler, the Creator and Childish Gambino are influences on Eilish’s work. On March 29, 2019, she released her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, which peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? was named album of the year, and the song “Bad Guy,” which is off the album, became Eilish’s first number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100 list. The song also won Grammys in 2020 for song of the year and record of the year. The song “Everything I Wanted,” which Eilish also released in 2019, went on to win the Grammy for record of the year. In 2021, the film Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry was released. Happier than Ever, Eilish’s second studio album, was released later that year. It was praised for its honest songs, many of which touched with the negative aspects of being a superstar. She co-wrote and performed “No Time to Die” (together with FINNEAS) for the James Bond movie of the same name in 2021; the song won an Oscar for best original song.
Billie Eilish On December 18, 2001, Pirate Baird O’Connell was born in Los Angeles, California. She is Maggie Baird’s daughter, an actor and educator. And actor Patrick O’Connell , who both perform on Eilish’s tours and are musicians as well. Eilish ancestry is mixed Scottish and Irish. In vitro fertilization was used to create her. Originally, Pirate was supposed to be her middle name and Eilish, her middle name, her first name. She grew up in Los Angeles’ Highland Park neighborhood.
Baird homeschooled Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas because their parents wanted to spend more time with them and allow them to follow their hobbies. Baird imparted songwriting fundamentals to Billie Eilish and Finneas. According to Eilish, her mother and brother encouraged her to pursue music. The siblings’ parents supported them in expressing themselves and pursuing their interests in acting, dance, and art. At the age of eight, Eilish joined the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus and continued to sing at talent shows. She began to play the ukulele at the age of six. At the age of eleven, she composed her first “real” song for her mother’s songwriting class. Inspired by the television series The Walking Dead, from which she took script, the song is about a zombie apocalypse.

lyrics and television show titles for the tune. Although Eilish didn’t like going on acting auditions, she preferred recording background commentary for sequences with crowds and worked on movies like Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Ramona and Beezus, and the X-Men series. Up until 2016, Eilish continued to take dance courses. However, a growth plate injury ended her dancing career, so she shifted her attention to making music.
In 2015, 13-year-old Eilish began working on songs with her brother Finneas, who had been writing and producing for several years and had his own band. The first songs they recorded together were called “She’s Broken” and “Fingers Crossed”, the former written by Finneas and the latter by Eilish. “We recorded them and put them out on SoundCloud, just for fun,” she recalled.
Billie Eilish released the song “Ocean Eyes” on November 18, 2015. Finneas composed, mixed, and produced the song. He had originally written it for his band the Slightlys, but thought Eilish’s voice would work better on it. When Eilish’s dance instructor at the Revolution Dance Center requested that they write a song for choreography, he gave it to her. Diaz was able to access and download the music from SoundCloud when the siblings uploaded it there. After the song garnered hundreds of thousands of plays in just two weeks, Finneas’s manager, Danny Rukasin, contacted him to talk about Eilish’s potential. Rukasin believed that with Finneas’s assistance, she could accomplish great accomplishment.

Eilish was signed by Apple Music to Platoon, an A&R company that specializes in packaging up-and-coming musicians before they land a major-label contract, according to an arrangement brokered by Finneas and his manager in January 2016. Eilish then hired a stylist and a publicist, who helped mold her image and introduced her to the high-end fashion house Chanel. Megan Thompson’s “Ocean Eyes” music video debuted on Eilish’s official YouTube channel on March 24, 2016. Numerous media sources and marketers, including radio stations and music supervisors like Beats 1, KCRW, BBC Radio 1, Zane Lowe, Jason Kramer, Annie Mac, and Chris Douridas, would commend and promote “Ocean Eyes” and Eilish.
Six Feet Under” was Eilish and Finneas’ second single, which they posted on SoundCloud on June 23, 2016. On June 30, 2016, a homemade music video for the song was made available. Eilish directed it, while Maggie Baird, her mother, edited it.
After hearing “Ocean Eyes” in 2015, Justin Lubliner recognized Eilish’s potential and signed her to Interscope and Darkroom Records in August of that same year.[31][43] His approach to developing her career as an artist was modeled after that of hip-hop musicians like Chance the Rapper and Travis Scott, who focused on building a “persona and distinct aesthetic” rather than a single hit. “Six Feet Under” and “Ocean Eyes” were re-released as singles for digital download and streaming by Darkroom and Interscope Records.
Before moving out in 2019, Eilish shared a home in the Los Angeles area of Highland Park with her parents. In 2021, she stated that she still stays in her childhood bedroom a lot of the time in order to be near her parents. She reported that at the age of eleven, she was diagnosed with Tourette syndrome; Eilish has not disclosed specifics of the sexual abuse she endured as a youngster at the hands of an older person.
Rapper Brandon Adams, better known by his stage name 7:AMP, was once Eilish’s partner. In October 2022, she dated musician Jesse Rutherford; they broke up in May 2023.

It was revealed by Eilish in a November 2023 interview with Variety that she was “physically attracted” to women. The following month, at a red carpet event sponsored by Variety, a magazine reporter inquired as to whether Eilish had “meant to come out” during the interview. She said she hadn’t, adding that she was “nervous talking about it” and that she “didn’t realize people didn’t know” in response. Later, Eilish clarified that she “[likes] boys and girls” but wanted to be “[left] alone about it” after accusing the reporter on Instagram of “outing” her when she was on the red carpet.
With her breakthrough song “Ocean Eyes,” Billie Eilish shot to international popularity at the tender age of 15, and she has been on a steady ascent ever since. Whether it’s discussing her issues with mental health, dispelling myths about body positivity, or denouncing the Supreme Court’s decision to overrule Roe v. Wade, the 21-year-old “Happier Than Ever” singer has never held back when voicing her opinions. The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, however, doesn’t provide many details about her romantic history.
During a September 2020 interview with “Capital Breakfast With Roman Kemp,” the singer of “Bellyache” expressed her desire to deflect attention away from her personal matters. “I firmly believe that [relationships] should remain private. During a virtual appearance on the radio show, she said, “I think about the people that have made their relationships public, and then they break up, and it’s like, ‘What if it goes bad?'” She added, “I’ve had relationships and kept them private, and even the ones that I’ve had, with the tiny amount that I’ve let the world see, I regret.

In response to speculation that she was seeing tattoo artist David Enth, Eilish addressed her romantic status on October 19. She posted on Instagram Stories, saying, “I’m so dead literally couldn’t be more single right now.” “LMFAO, what the hell is all this?” she continued. More about the singer’s previous relationship, which involved an exception to her privacy rule by the “Bad Guy” rule, later. She has occasionally talked about her encounters with love that changed her life. Here’s a quick summary of Eilish’s past relationships.
