International career

SKY was picked to India’s Twenty20 International (T20I) team for a series against England in February 2021. In the same year, in June, he was picked to India’s One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) teams for the series against Sri Lanka. Surya Kumar Yadav made his one-day international debut against Sri Lanka on July 18, 2021, and scored his first half-century.

He was picked to the Indian squad for the T20I series against Ireland in July 2022. On October 30, 2022, SKY was placed first in the ICC T20I rankings for batsmen.

Suryakumar scored his third century in T20 Internationals in January 2023, against Sri Lanka in Rajkot, India, in 45 balls. He beat KL Rahul’s record for the second-fastest T20I century, which he completed in 46 balls. Surya also received the ICC T20I Player of the Year award for his outstanding performance in 2022.

The Mumbai Indians scouted and signed him in 2012 after seeing his early form. However, Suryakumar’s full potential was never realized, as he failed to earn game time.
