Shreyas Iyer’s professional cricket career began with a home match, and his exceptional performance in 2014 earned him an opportunity to play for the Trent Bridge cricket team in the United Kingdom. During his stint with Trent Bridge, he managed to score an impressive total of 299 runs. Shreyas Iyer made his debut for the Mumbai team in the 2014–15 Ranji Trophy, setting a record with his debut performance. Throughout the tournament, he accumulated 803 runs at an average of 50.56, which included six half-centuries and two centuries. In the subsequent 2015–16 Ranji Trophy, he further displayed his batting prowess by scoring a total of 1321 runs, featuring seven half-centuries and four centuries. He emerged as the highest run-scorer in the tournament.

IPL

In February 2015, the Indian Premier League signed Iyer to Delhi Daredevils for Rs 2.6 crore, making him one of the highest-paid players of the tournament. He then did not disappoint anyone by playing 439 runs in 14 matches with an average of 33.76 and a strike rate of around 130. Thus he won the IPL’s Emerging Player of the Year award.

T20I

Iyer played his first T20 International for India on 1 November 2017 against New Zealand, but in this he did not get a chance to show his betting skills. However, the next month Shreyas scored 9 runs in his ODI debut against Sri Lanka.

ODI

Shreyas Iyer made his One Day International (ODI) debut on 10 December 2017 against Sri Lanka in the 3 ODI series against Sri Lanka at Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, however, he failed in the first ODI and scored just 9 runs

TEST

Shreyas, who made his international debut in the year 2017, got a chance to play in the Test team in 2021 after waiting for four years. Rahul Dravid, who coached him in India A, took over the responsibility of the head coach of Team India and he got a chance to debut in the Test match. After playing 22 ODIs and 32 T20Is, this batsman got a chance to play his first Test match on 25 November 2021. In the absence of senior players, Iyer made it to the middle order. He was given the Test Cap at the hands of former captain Sunil Gavaskar.
