Born on February 11, 1997, Roseanne Park MBE, also going by her stage name Rosé is a South Korean-born New Zealand-Korean singer and dancer. After a successful audition in 2012, Rosé—who was born in New Zealand and raised in Australia—signed with the South Korean label YG Entertainment. She trained for four years before making her debut as a member of the South Korean girl group Blackpink in August 2016.
Rosé released her debut solo album, R, in March 2021. In its first week of release, the album sold 448,089 copies, the most ever for a single Korean female artist. Its main single “On the Ground” became the highest-charting song by a Korean female soloist on the US Billboard Hot 100, the Canadian Hot 100, and the UK Singles Chart after peaking in the top five of South Korea’s Gaon Digital Chart. It set the record for the most views a Korean solo artist’s music video received in its first 24 hours on YouTube and became the first song by a solo artist from Korea to reach the top of the Billboard Global 200. “Gone,” the second single from the album, also reached the top ten in South Korea.
