Welfare of fallen heroes’ families as well as soldiers, ex-servicemen & their dependents is the nation’s collective responsibility: RM Shri Rajnath Singh

The nation as a whole bears the obligation of seeing to the needs of the dependents of current and retired soldiers, as well as the families of the fallen heroes, whose unwavering dedication, sacrifice, and patriotism form the cornerstone of a secure and prosperous India. Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh made this statement on December 30, 2023, at an event in Surat, Gujarat, that was hosted by an NGO to honor the bravery and sacrifices of the dead heroes and to provide support to their families.

Giving these courageous men the respect they deserve, Shri Rajnath Singh declared that the country would always be grateful to the military for defending the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of the country. He expressed his gratitude to the Armed Forces troops for effectively carrying out their responsibilities in line with the government’s “India first, security first” policy, saying that people can contribute to the development of their country because they are confident in the protection of their borders. The family members were also thanked by him for creating “these diamonds whose shine illuminates the entire country.”

Rajnath Singh Biography

The Raksha Mantri drew comparisons between the process of turning young people into exceptional soldiers and the process of making diamonds. “The harsh conditions in which soldiers serve the country shape regular youth into diamonds, just as extremely high temperatures and pressures turn carbon atoms into diamonds.” Then, these gems shield us from the dark with their brilliance,” he remarked.

Using the occasion, Shri Rajnath Singh urged corporate executives to put the good of the country ahead of their own interests, stressing that wealth should be seen as a tool rather than the end in life. He also discussed Gujarat’s historical significance and contribution to the country’s development. “Notable people like poet Narsingh Mehta, whose love and writing brought the community together at the time, and the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, whose values and ideas guaranteed our freedom, were born in Gujarat; Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has elevated India’s profile internationally and led the country towards prosperity and stability. Iron Man of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel enhanced the unity and integrity of the nation. Not to mention, it is the cradle of many warriors who, by putting their lives in danger, support the protection of our borders,” he stated.

In order to defend the country from threats, the Raksha Mantri continued, “The Government stands with the Armed Forces and is equipping them with the latest weapons and platforms.” He gave the country his word that the military was prepared to take on any task and that anyone attempting to harm someone would receive an appropriate response.
