The son of African-American artist Dennis Graham (born in Memphis, Tennessee) and Canadian Jewish educator Sandi (Sher) Graham, Aubrey Drake Graham was born in Toronto, Ontario. Drake made multiple appearances in advertisements as a young man, including ones for GMC and Sears. Drake first gained notoriety in 2001 when he portrayed “Jimmy Brooks” on Degrassi: The Next Generation (2001), a wheelchair-bound basketball player who was shot by a classmate. Drake’s musical career began in 2006 when he dropped his debut mix tape, “Room for Improvement”. From 2009 to 2016, Drake and Rihanna were in a relationship, but it was rocky and filled with arguments, making it difficult for the two of them to stay together. • Drake has been romantically linked with a number of women from the entertainment industry. However, he is most known for his on-and-off relationship with the Barbadian singer Rihanna. They first met in 2005, following which he had a crush on her. They later became close and worked together a number of times.
