Chirag Kumar Paswan Born on October 31, 1982, Chirag Kumar Paswan is an Indian politician and former actor who has served as the first president of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) since 2021, the second president of the party from 2019 to 2021, and a member of parliament for the Lok Sabha representing Jamui since 2014. He is the son of the late Ram Vilas Paswan, a union minister and member of parliament.
Paswan then ran for the Lok Janshakti Party in the 2014 elections, claiming the Jamui seat. He won the seat by more over 85,000 votes, besting his closest opponent, Rashtriya Janata Dal’s Sudhansu Shekhar Bhaskar. Paswan defeated his closest opponent, Bhudeo Choudhary, in the 2019 election to keep his seat, garnering 528,771 votes overall.

In the 2014 Indian general election, Paswan was elected from the Jamui constituency in Bihar as a member of the 16th Lok Sabha, while his father was elected from the Hajipur constituency by the Lok Janshakti Party.

On June 14, 2021, Chirag’s uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras succeeded him as the LJP’s leader in the Lok Sabha. A day later, Chirag banished his uncle Pashupati and five other rebel MPs for their anti-party activities.

“It is a given that I will run as the NDA candidate for the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), hailing from Hajipur, the ‘karmabhoomi’ of my father. It is welcome for him (Pashupati Kumar Paras) to run for office. I’ve fearlessly taken up every task.
Lok Janshakti Party leader Chirag Paswan today asserted that he will be contesting from Hajipur, against his Uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras, in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
“It is certain that I will be the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) candidate, the NDA candidate, from Hajipur – which was the ‘karmabhoomi‘ of my father. He (Pashupati Kumar Paras) is welcome (to contest from there). I have bravely faced all challenges. I have never been scared of any challenges. I accept this challenge too,” Mr Paswan said while speaking to media on Wednesday.
