About The Author
Jane Austen is one of the most famous and widely read English novelists of all time. She was born on December 16, 1775, in the rectory of Steventon, Hampshire, England.
Jane was fascinated by words and the realm of stories from an early age. During her adolescence in the 1790s, she began creating her own novels, the first of which was Love and Friendship [sic], a satire of romantic literature presented as a series of love letters. Between 1811 and 1816, Jane began anonymously publishing her works. Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, and Emma were all published around this time. Jane began working on Persuasion, her last completed novel, shortly after finishing Emma. Written in her inimitable style, it delicately portrays the rapidly changing and increasing social landscape of nineteenth-century England. It was completed in 1816 and published posthumously in December of 1817.
Jane was forty-one years old when she had Addison’s disease in 1816. She died on July 18, 1817!
