He was Alwarpet CC’s top run-scorer in the 2019–20 Raja of Palayampatti Shield with 635 runs at an average of 52.92. On November 4, 2021, he played his first Twenty20 match for Tamil Nadu in the 2021–22 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. On December 8, 2021, he made his List A debut for Tamil Nadu in the 2021–22 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He was purchased by the Gujarat Titans in the IPL (Indian Premier League) auction in February 2022. His inclusion in the IPL team was made possible by Sudharsan’s success in the TNPL.

Sai was called up to the India A squad for the 2023 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup on 4 July 2023. On 14 July 2023, he was a standby player for the Indian cricket team which will take part in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou.
On 19 July 2023 in the Emerging Asia Cup Sudharsan hit 104* off 110 balls to guide India A to a resounding victory in the match against Pakistan A.
On 15th December he was picked up in the squad for South Africa Tour ODI matches. Sai made his ODI debut against South Africa on 17th December where he scored 55 runs in 43 balls with the help of 9 fours. He made back-to-back two fifties in the series and showed their batting class to their seniors.

On 8 December 2021, he made his List A debut for Tamil Nadu in the 2021–22 Vijay Hazare Trophy. In February 2022, he was bought by the Gujarat Titans in the auction for the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament.
