New Delhi: On Sunday, February 18, India registered their biggest-ever win by runs in Test cricket after they beat England by 434 runs in the third Test to lead the five-match series 2-1.
India, batting first, put 445 runs on the board, while England also replied well and posted 319 runs. In the 2nd innings, the Rohit Sharma-led side scored 430 runs courtesy of a double hundred from Yashasvi Jaiswal. Chasing a target of 557, the Three Lions tumbled for just 122 runs.
In the post-match ceremony, Ben Stokes blamed the DRS technology behind the loss. He called for DRS to remove the umpire’s call.
Stokes expressed his disappointment over Jack Crawley’s dismissal, who was given LBW to Jaspirt Bumrah. The replay looked like the ball would miss the stumps, but the DRS graphic displayed ‘Umpire’s call’ and the original decision was out.
Stokes and Brendon McCullum even discussed the issue with the match referee after the game. “We just wanted some clarity around Zak’s DRS when the images came back. The ball is quite clearly missing the stump on the replay.
