Akshay Kumar is a Hindi-language actor and producer who later obtained Canadian citizenship. Following the Covid delay, Akshay Kumar recently revealed that he applied for his Indian citizenship. Early Life

The father of Akshay was a military personnel and had two children: a girl named Alka Bhatia and a son named Akshay. He was up in the Chadni Chowk neighborhood of Delhi before attending Guru Nanak Khalsa College and Don Bosco School in Mumbai. He studied martial arts in Bangkok, where he learnt Muay Thai and worked as a waiter and chef, after earning a black belt in Taekwondo in India. He soon went back to India and began instructing martial arts students. An aspiring photographer who was one of his students encouraged Kumar to pursue modeling, which finally resulted in him accepting a modeling job and signing on for the starring role in producer Promod Chakraborty’s 1992 film Deedar.

Entry Into Bollywood

Despite having debuted in Bollywood with the 1991 film Saugandh, Akshay’s breakthrough performance came in the 1992 film Khiladi. In 1993, he costarred with the legendary southern actor Dr. Vishnuvardhan in the Kannada film Vishnu-Vijaya. In 1994, he quickly made his own critically acclaimed films, including Mohra and Main Khiladi Tu Anari. The top two grossing movies of the year were these two productions. Subsequently, he was nominated for Best Actor by both Filmfare and Star Screen festivals, and his love flick Yeh Dillagi (1994) starring Yash Chopra also proved successful. With 11 films in total—Elaan, Yeh Dillagi, Jai Kishan, Mohra, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Ikke Pe Ikka, Amaanat, Suhaag, Zakhmi Dil, Zaalim, and Hum Hain Bemisaal—1994, Akshay had a very fruitful year.

His Khiladi series continued in 1995 with the release of Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi and Sabse Bada Khiladi, the latter of which was the year’s highest grosser and the former of which was a hit. For Dil To Pagal Hai, he was awarded the 1997 Filmfare Best Supporting Actor prize. Mr. and Mrs. Khiladi, his fifth film in the Khiladi series, was a box office bust. He went through a difficult period before earning praise from critics for his 1999 films Jaanwar and Sangharsh, the latter of which became a commercial hit.

In 2010 he began with the comedy film Housefull, which earned the second highest opening weekend collection of all time while he also acted in films like Tees Maar Khan, Khatta Meetha and Action Replayy. In 2011, his films included Patiala House, Thank You and Desi Boyz. These were followed by Breakaway that he co-produced with Russell Peters. The movie was the highest grossing English movie in Canada and later dubbed into Hindi as Speedy Singhs. Later on, he dubbed the Hindi Version for the blockbuster Transformers: Dark of the Moon, taking on the key role of Optimus Prime.

In 2012, his sequel film Housefull 2, was a huge success in Bollywood and was the biggest grosser in New Zealand. Rowdy Rathore came next and marked his return as an action hero after a 7-year hiatus. The film was a blockbuster and earned over Rs 1.3 billion. He returned to the Khiladi series after 11 years with the film Khiladi 786, which was a semi hit. In 2013, his film Special Chabbis was a commercial success while the other film Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobara was below average. His next film Boss was also a failure. He made a strong comeback with the 2014 film Holiday which pole-vaulted to the Rs 100 crore elite club, as the film became the highest grosser of 2014, beating Jai Ho.

Childhood

In Amritsar, Punjab, India, or Akshay Kumar’s birthplace, Hari Om, his father, and Aruna Bhatia, his mother, welcomed Kumar into the world. Rajiv Bhatia was Akshay Kumar’s real name. Educational Qualification

Akshay attended Don Bosco High School in Matunga to receive his education, while also taking karate classes. He enrolled in Guru Nanak Khalsa College to pursue higher study but left early due to a lack of enthusiasm in the program. His father somehow managed to save enough money to send him to Thailand after he told him he wanted to continue learning martial arts.
