“Black Chapter In History Of India’s Democracy”: BJP On Bengal Violence”
Leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Sudhanshu Trivedi, stated that there had been previous attacks on BJP employees in West Bengal and that the party has a list of 25–30 similar events.
New Delhi: The TMC-led West Bengal government and state election commission authorities came under fire on Friday from BJP spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi for the violent incidents in the state, calling their actions a “black chapter in the history of democracy and elections in India.”
BJP spokesman Sudhanshu Trivedi stated at a news conference on Friday that attacks on BJP employees in West Bengal have happened before and that the party has a list of 25–30 such instances.
The election commission’s callous and inconsiderate handling of these situations is a greater cause for concern. We had to go to court as a result, and once the judge gave his ruling, an effort was made to stop these kinds of things,” he stated. The way state government and police are acting is a black chapter in the history of democracy and elections of the nation,” added Trivedi.
More than 40,000 employees of the TMC submitted nomination forms on the final day. West Bengal has 341 blocks as well. Over forty thousand people nominated themselves for just 341 blocks in just four hours. Workers from every party, including the TMC, the Left, the Congress, the BJP, and others, ran for nomination. “It requires two minutes to propose a single individual,” he added.
“It can be understood how honest the machinery, working under the election commission and the state government, is,” Sudhanshu Trivedi remarked, raising questions about how such a large number of people were able to file for nominations in under four hours.I would like to pose a categorical question to people who formerly claimed that “Indian democracy is almost finished”: with the degree of violence occurring in West Bengal, is democracy still thriving today? Or is it disappearing?” he asked the rival political parties. Violence harms democracy. They have discussed Maa, Maati, and Manush in the past. A BJP leader slammed the opposition and continued, “The violence is against Mother India, the land is soaked in blood, and humanity is grieving with a blot on its face, but no political party is not able to see any problem in the democracy.”
As the opposition parties and the ruling Trinamool Congress engaged in a verbal spat on Thursday, the nomination process for the impending panchayat elections in West Bengal was plagued by continuing violence.
West Bengal’s Panchayat elections are set to take place in a single phase on July 8, with the vote counting slated for July 11.
The BJP and the ruling Trinamool Congress are expected to engage in a tough race in West Bengal’s panchayat elections, which are being viewed as a litmus test for both parties before the Lok Sabha elections of next year.

According to party general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya and spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi, people have shown their belief in the policies that Modi has implemented.
