Born on January 3, 1995, Kim Ji-soo (also known by her moniker, Jisoo) is a South Korean singer and actor. She is a part of the South Korean girl group Blackpink, which was founded in August 2016 by YG Entertainment. She began her acting career off the music scene with a brief appearance in the 2015 series The Producers. She then landed her first major role in the JTBC series Snowdrop (2021–2022).

In March of 2023, Jisoo released her debut solo album, Me. With 1.03 million copies sold in less than two days, the album debuted at number one on the Circle Album Chart, making history as the best-selling album by a female soloist in South Korea and the first to sell more than a million copies. Its lead single “Flower” was a commercial hit, reaching the top of the Circle Digital Chart and the Billboard Global 200 at number two. Life and Career

Jisoo passed YG Entertainment’s tryouts and began working as a trainee there in 2011. She made an appearance as a brokenhearted girl in the music video for “Spoiler + Happen Ending” by Epik High in October 2014. She played Bobby’s girlfriend in Hi Suhyun’s “I’m Different” music video that same year. Along with fellow labelmates Sandara Park of 2NE1 and Kang Seung-yoon of Winner, Jisoo made a brief appearance in the KBS2 drama The Producers in 2015.
2016–2022: Debut with Blackpink, Solo Endeavors and Acting
With the release of their single album Square One on August 8, 2016, Jisoo made her debut as one of the four members of the girl group Blackpink, along with Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa.
Jisoo joined Inkigayo in 2017 and hosted alongside Jin-young from Got7 and Doyoung from NCT. She made her acting debut in 2019 as Song Joong-ki’s love interest in a brief cameo in the tvN fantasy drama Arthdal Chronicles. The previews for Blackpink’s song “How You Like That” became viral on social media in June 2020 thanks to Jisoo’s fashion sense. Famous people and social media users from South Korea, China, Thailand, and Vietnam imitated Jisoo’s “two-bow hairstyle” and cosmetics, which she had personally designed. 2023–present: Solo debut with Me, rising popularity and film debut
Jisoo is currently recording music for her album and will make her solo debut within the year, according to YG Entertainment’s announcement on January 2, 2023. On February 21, her record label made public that she was filming her song video in a top-secret location abroad, using the most production budget they had ever used for a music video by Blackpink. On March 31, 2023, Jisoo’s single album Me was made available. It featured the B-side song “All Eyes on Me” and the lead single “Flower”.
In the first week of its release, 1.03 million copies of Me were sold, placing it at the top of the Circle Album Chart. On August 31, news broke that Jisoo had been chosen for the lead part in Coupang Play’s next television series Influenza, which stars Park Jeong-min and Jisoo. Influenza is a drama about a zombie epidemic that was written by Ji Ho-jin and Han Jin-won, who also wrote Parasite, and was directed by Yoon Seong-hyun. Jisoo confirmed her participation in the show later, and YG Entertainment made a statement stating that she is thinking about joining the series. It is one of the works that have been suggested and are being considered by the actress. For the first five months of 2020, Jisoo was included among the top ten celebrities and influencers shaping the cosmetics industry. According to a trade publication for the fashion business, Women’s Wear Daily, Jisoo topped the list for average engagement per post, ahead of Rihanna and Kylie Jenner. Despite having the fewest posts—just 12 total—she came in seventh place overall. The only other Asian person on the list was Jisoo.
2020 saw a marketing effort including Korean pop singers, such as Jisoo, which helped Dior’s sales amid the COVID-19 pandemic in South Korea. Endorsements and Fashion
Jisoo appeared in ads for Samsonite, Smart Uniform, LG Electronics, and Nikon prior to her Blackpink debut. Jisoo and bandmate Rosé signed on as Kiss Me, a Japanese cosmetics brand, as promo models in September 2018. Jisoo was chosen by Korean apparel company It Michaa in February 2021 as the inspiration for their Spring 2021 collection. She was also chosen for the It Michaa line’s 2021 summer campaign, For a Day Michaa. Jisoo was chosen to serve as the face of the Korean short brand CELEBe in August of 2021. Jisoo, who was appointed as the second brand ambassador for Nexon’s game MapleStory in March 2022, succeeded Olympic archer Kim Je-deok. Jisoo was chosen by Dyson in December 2023 to serve as their official Brand Ambassador and an ambassador for the brand’s new hair care line.
Jisoo started serving as a local Dior Beauty cosmetics brand ambassador in December 2019. Jisoo was chosen to be Dior’s muse the following summer and served as a model for the fashion designer’s Fall/Winter 2020 collection. Jisoo covered the 155th edition of Dazed Korea in September 2020, talking about her collaboration with Dior. The “Dior Forever Skin Glow Cushion” by Dior Beauty, which Jisoo supports, was only available in Korea when it was introduced in January 2021.
